As a journalism student in college, I quickly learned how to write articles that were easier to read.
The best, first and perhaps hardest thing I had to learn—now second nature to me—was how to write shorter paragraphs.
You’ll notice that I naturally write paragraphs that are one or two sentences long. If I’m feeling wild and crazy, I’ll push it all the way up to three sentences.
It turns out that this method of writing works wonderfully for the Internet.
By limiting your paragraphs to one or two sentences, the overall text is more pleasing to the eye. It’s also easier to follow and your reader is less likely to get a panic attack when seeing it for the first time.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t like seeing paragraphs that look like NY skyscrapers. And I’m an avid reader with hundreds of non-fiction books in my library.
Think about your reader and keep your writing moving along at a nice pace. You want the reader to feel relaxed.
